Here is a walkthrough on how to download, installand run Spybot Search & Destroy for the first time.

click on this link spybot 1.3 save to your desktop.

1.double click on the icon where you saved it.

2. select English click ok.

3. Click next to continue.

4.click "I accept the agreement.", then click next to continue.

5. The program is stored under program files by default, if you choose you may store it elsewhere otherwise click next to continue.

6. the next screen gives you some options but accept the defaults is fine click next to continue.

7. This screen creates a startup group you opt not to by checking the box at the bottom, click next to continue.

8.this screen is important options.

        create icon on desktop or quick launch important if you don't create start menu folder

        enable permanent protection   (SDhelper and teatimer)

        tea timer prompt's you when system settings and variables are changed helps protect from future infection

9. Usually you want as much protection as possible. so check at least the following two boxes. click next to continue.

10. Review your choices and click next to continue.

12. choose to run spybot and click finish to continue.

13. the program launches, you should create a registry backup anytime you mess with registry settings, if comfortable click next to continue.

14. the program is only effective if updated before use. click search for updates.

15. if updates are available. click download all available updates. when finished click next to continue.

16. immunizing helps protect from future infection. click immunize system. click next to continue.

17. click start using program.

18. here you are on the update screen you need to click on search & destroy on the right

19. click check for problems.

20. the program will check for spyware and other malware infections.

21. when finished you should get an option to fix selected problems. make sure everything is selected, click fix selected problems

22. confirm the fix by clicking yes.

23. you get this screen you should be ok. sometimes you are asked to scan at the next reboot if prompted select yes and reboot your machine and go back to 21.

24. at this point everything should have a green check if so close the program.
